I would like to share with you 5 Little Words that have made a HUGE impact on my life! I am sure you’ve heard them before and even said them a few times. I know that I did, and they just flew by like the wind, until the day that I finally paid attention and internalized them.

We reap what we sow.

They are just 5 Little Words; two have four letters, one has three, and the remaining two words, only have two. Many words have more letters than this phrase does in total, fifteen to be exact, but it would be hard to find a word or phrase that is packed with more meaning than these 5 Little Words.

We reap what we sow.

• We is the plural pronoun and it’s repeated twice.
• Reap is an action word meaning to harvest, gather or amass.
• What is the middle word, a pronoun and the fruits of your labor.
• Sow means to scatter or strew.

Together, these 5 Little Words have come to be known as the Law of the Farmer, yet they transcend every industry and aspect of life. There will always be a direct correlation between “what we sow and what we reap”, with one caveat: eventually. Our actions will produce a result, and if we want to change our results, we need to improve our actions. To think otherwise is known as the definition of insanity.

We reap what we sow.

It is just as true in farming as it is in selling, manufacturing, teaching, policing, parenting and coaching. It is a matter of cause and effect and true in athletics, painting, sculpting, drawing, building and governing, as well as dieting, speaking, writing and singing.

We reap what we sow.

Reciting these 5 Little Words is not just a statement, it is an affirmation and a claim of responsibility. With this claim, I believe comes freedom, the freedom to create your own future and to be its architect.

All one need do is truly internalize these words and it is a pledge of responsibility and accountability. You are the maker and shaper of your destiny by your own actions which only you control. You hold the key and with the power granted by your Maker, you have the power to become the person you were meant to be and the ability to change the direction of your life, one action at a time.

It may not come as any surprise to you that Sales Activity Management is built on this concept and on these 5 Little Words.

We reap what we sow,

Mickey Straub
