Hi, I’m Mickey Straub and welcome to SAM Moments™
Have you ever wondered if there is a “Key to Success”? In searching for ways to get his business growing again, a striving insurance agent became convinced that the key to success was Time Management. So, studying it became his top priority.
He became a Time Management “Junkie” of sorts as he researched the topic, attended the seminars, piloted the most popular systems and looked at the best practices of many industry companies. After years of researching and testing, he came to a simple, yet eye-opening conclusion:
Time Management is a Misnomer!
As you might have guessed, that agent was me…and it seemed only appropriate that we would make that the theme on our company’s 24th Anniversary! Besides, I thought you might like to know how it all started?
To some, this all may seem obvious; to others, a shock! After all, “Time Management” is a household word. But, if you don’t believe me, try it:
Can you start or stop it, speed up or slow down the hands of time? No. Can you save it up, store it, or trade it with anyone? Can you borrow it, lend it or delay time? No, you cannot! You can’t buy it or sell it, lease it or rent it and you certainly can’t manage it, at least not literally.
You cannot manage Time…all you can do is spend it!
That’s what Activity Management is all about and why we pioneered the industry 24 years ago: To empower Sales Professionals with the concept and equip them with the tools. You can only manage activity or, as Joe Jordan says in his book (that I highly recommend) called LIVING A LIFE OF SIGNIFICANCE, “You don’t control results; the only thing you can control is your effort.”
Time is a gift that we can’t see, feel or touch and we all have the same amount of it: 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 18,750 hours and 365 days per year. What are you going to do with your gift today?
Oh, and by the way, we also launched SAM to promote the American ideals of personal freedom and responsibility and to help make this world a better place. In the words of Bartles & Jaymes, “We appreciate your support.”
