Mickey’s Corner: What Would Jack Do?

I think about you just about every day,
But that is not entirely new,
Especially when I have an important decision to make,
I frequently ask myself, “What would Jack do?”

Whether it has to do with diet or exercise or how to treat others,
Or what should I say to my closest brother?
What should I manage? What should I measure?
Is it time for work or a time for pleasure?

Is it a time to pray or a time to chide?
Should I go for it…or let it ride?
All these times, I have thought of you,
When I ask myself, “What would Jack do?”

These are reactions I have not had to force.
And “Yes!” it has even happened on the golf course.
God has given you amazing power
Even during your most difficult hour.

Thousands have written notes, cards and letters.
And even more have prayed for you.
And I bet a lot of them ask themselves
During difficult times, “What would Jack do?”

I doubt you’ll ever know the number of people you have touched.
Though God has given you a glimpse, a blessing reserved for very few.
Why did I choose to write this poem or letter?
Well, I just asked myself, “What would Jack do?”
